The 4 Greatest Things About the Internet

In increasing burden of time commitment:

1) 15 s - He fills several watermelons with gasoline--you won't believe what happens next

About this there is not much more to say than: God bless America.

2) 180 s - You'll regret your land-lubbing ways like never before

I can't believe that no one is miked. The song leader has a huge voice. This gem is from r/happycrowds, which sadly has a high chaff-to-wheat ratio.

3) 286 s - 77 people think they're just discussing New Zealand legislation...until a flash mob breaks out

Another r/happycrowds find.

A neat Kiwi tradition commemorates legislation at the same time it celebrates their Māori heritage: they sing a waiata.

What fascinated me about this video is that even the grumpy Gusses who voted against, and abstained from clapping or standing when the bill passed, stand for the song. At first I thought it must have been their national anthem to engender such respect. It wasn't. It seems like many other people in the chamber also stood when the singing started--such manners!

The woman in the colourful shirt, and the bald fellow next to her are both openly gay MPs who had each brought private member's bills to permit same-sex marriage. By luck of the draw, hers was debated first.

Unfortunately, Hansard seems to elide waiata in its otherwise rigorous transcriptions.

Bonus MP speech including the phrase "enormous big gay rainbow" (245 s).

4) 6,842 s - This one weird trick will convince your high-school crush to have sex with you.

It's lying. You lie to them.

This movie was spectacular. It's rated 28% on Rotten Tomatoes. Go in with that understanding and you'll be just fine.

Don't watch the trailer - it simultaneously conveys nothing of the flavour of the movie while also ruining many of the jokes.

Also, I was high on cold medicine at the time. That may have been key.
